Nirvana Boulevard, 2022

In the suburb of Springvale, Melbourne, sits an area dubbed “Nirvana Boulevard” — a 750-metre stretch where three Buddhist temples stand, each belonging to a different Asian community: Chinese, Cambodian and Vietnamese. This photography series, part of ABC’s coverage of religion in Melbourne’s suburbs, profiled the day-to-day activities of Springvale’s monks and religious leaders.
